I remember that conversation very specifically. It was between a C level I reported to at my first hyper growth startup and a COO who just came in from a big reputable publicly traded corp.
Made me laugh then and makes me laugh now and it couldn’t be more true.
Early on you need doers vs. planners. As a company evolves and grows you’ll need planners at some point, but bring them in to early and they slow things down and just get in the way.
If you’re ealry in your career and working in a startup, build an identity as a doer, it will more for you than almost anything else.
