Organic Search & AI Discovery

Be findable.Be worth choosing.

Connect technical access, useful buyer content and credible evidence with the demand your business needs. This work strengthens organic search and AI-assisted discovery, where people use assistants to research and compare options. It starts with commercial page quality, not an assumption that publishing more will make you easier to choose.

For established B2B companies making discovery a more useful source of demand, whether improving an existing foundation or addressing a specific gap.

Led by Travis Bjorklund. Explore the scope, then choose a conversation or a written brief.

Organic search & AI discovery

From a buyer question to a useful answer

SEO helps useful pages become discoverable in search. Answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) describe related work to make information understandable and supportable in AI-assisted answers. None replaces a credible source page.

01 / Direct answer

A CRM integration is needed when information must move between systems. A workflow can coordinate actions within a system. The right choice depends on available connectors, field authority and what the receiving team needs.

02 / Evidence to include

A concrete source-to-destination example, supported platform limits and a comparison of native versus custom delivery.

03 / Commercial next step

Let the buyer inspect the handoff, then discuss its actual systems and responsibilities. Avoid sending a technically specific visitor back to a generic homepage.

The diagnostic work

Separate access,
usefulness and evidence.

  1. Can the page be retrieved?

Check status, crawl rules, canonical, indexability and the text available before and after JavaScript. A bot request failure needs investigation; it does not by itself prove Google cannot crawl.

  2. Does it answer the actual decision?

Compare the question, title, opening answer and supporting sections. Use definitions, comparisons and worked examples where they clarify the choice. More words do not automatically create more value.

  3. Why should the answer be trusted?

Identify the responsible author, source technical claims and distinguish real client work from illustrative material. Dates and updates should reflect actual review, not cosmetic freshness.

  4. Does discovery reach the business?

Connect landing pages to useful inquiries and sales outcomes. Track observed AI referrals separately; missing referral data does not prove nobody used an assistant.

No special file makes a source authoritative.

Google applies existing search foundations to AI Overviews and AI Mode. There is no guaranteed inclusion and no special AI schema requirement. Its current guidance says llms.txt is not needed for Google Search. FAQ markup is not a promise of a search feature.

The operating model

Inspect the foundations of discovery

Choose a layer, then switch between Search and AI-assisted discovery to compare the work, evidence and limits. Use the map to frame questions about your business, not to score your website.

Illustrative decision guide, not a live website inspection or brand citation score. No assistant queries run here, and selecting a layer does not establish a diagnosis.

Accessible / Search

Make important pages reachable.

Review priority page addresses, site navigation, browser-visible content and provider-specific access settings before treating a visibility gap as a content problem.

Check
Check page responses, content after scripts run, indexing instructions and canonical tags identifying preferred page versions, alongside links between relevant pages.
Evidence
Use page inspection reports, findings from automated page visits and server responses to document whether important content is available and eligible for search indexing.
What this cannot prove
Technical eligibility does not guarantee indexing; search engines make inclusion decisions, and a successful automated page visit is not a ranking outcome.

From findings to useful pages

The scope can include technical remediation, a prioritized content plan, page revisions, source documentation and measurement. We use first-party search and conversion evidence where available. Baselines matter: this illustrative brief is not a forecast of rankings, traffic or AI mentions.

Discovery and conversion work together when the next step is worth taking.

A few useful answers

What search visibility can - and cannot - tell you

How does AI-assisted discovery relate to search engine optimization (SEO)?

Search engine optimization (SEO) helps search engines access and understand useful pages. AI-assisted discovery also considers how assistants find, interpret and reference information. For Google's AI features, supporting pages must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet; no additional technical requirements apply. Other assistants have their own rules.

Google's guidance on AI features and your website ↗
Do we need an llms.txt file or special AI markup?

An llms.txt file offers site information intended for language models; it is not a universal discovery requirement. Schema, structured data describing visible page facts, can support applicable search features. Google requires neither special AI schema nor new machine-readable files for its AI features. Other providers' documentation must be assessed separately.

Google's technical requirements for AI features ↗
Can AI help create the content?

Yes, when it supports accountable editorial work rather than replacing it. Research assistance and drafting can be useful, but someone must verify claims, sources and relevance to actual buying questions. Google's guidance emphasizes original, helpful, reliable content, not a blanket penalty for AI authorship. High-volume publishing without substantive value is not the objective.

Google's people-first content guidance ↗
Can you track leads from AI-assisted discovery?

We connect search and website reporting with sales outcomes using agreed definitions. Explicit AI referral traffic is only a visible minimum: missing referrers can appear as direct traffic. Google reports its AI-feature activity within Search Console's Web totals, not as separately attributed AI leads. Citation sampling provides directional observations, not complete influence attribution.

Can you work with our existing website and content?

Usually, the starting point is improving what exists within the agreed content management system and team capacity. We assess priority pages, publishing constraints and supporting content before recommending additions. Refreshing, merging or removing pages needs evidence; useful page addresses should be preserved, or deliberately redirected when appropriate. A new website is not the default.

How long does the work take, and what determines investment?

Timing and investment depend on technical constraints, priority pages, implementation capacity and the review needed from your team. We define a bounded first scope before expanding the work. Search engines and assistant providers control discovery and inclusion, so a delivery schedule is not a ranking or citation timetable. Ongoing maintenance is agreed separately.
